The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk exhibit was beyond amazing. I’m still speechless and really don’t know where to begin, one of those experiences where you just HAVE to see in person over explaining.
Anytime I am able to see runway/ couture fashions up close, it is always a billion times more amazing compared to viewing online. This exhibit is a rare and an amazing opportunity, and I am overjoyed that I was able to take advantage off and visit. The Brooklyn Museum is hosting this wonderful exhibit until February 2014, so go check it out!
This first group of photos (taken by myself) are from Gaultier’s “Mermaids” collection, Spring/Summer Couture 2008. Each fashion piece represents everything plus more of a Mermaid Goddess. From the mermaid catsuit w/ golden scales to the hard shelled/ sea shells bustiers. Whites, golds, silvers, shimmers, precise details, and sequins took over fashions in this collection, all STUNNING.
Each model mannequin has realistic facial features from the eyes to the mouths, all which were in moving motions, blinking and showing facial expressions. Huge applause to Gaultier!! LOVE
